OKC PRIDE MINUTES MAY 18, 2009

OKC Pride came to order at 7 p.m. in the meeting
room of the Days Inn on N.W. 39th Expressway, Male Co-Chair Paul
Thompson presiding. Secretary Dean was not present due to a family
emergency.

The first problem addressed was that OKC Pride
had no Treasurer due to the resignation of Ms.Miller. Chris Plante
agreed to be the interim Treasurer on the condition that she not have
check signing authority, and OKC Pride agreed to this condition.
Checking Policies and Procedures, the Treasurer is not required to
sign checks. Checking the Bylaws, it was found that a majority vote
of the Board could appoint someone to this position. The Board voted
to appoint Ms.Plante, the motion to do so made by Latricia Olmstead
and seconded by Kirk Martin. It was verified that there was a quorum
of board members. She will hold that office until the next election,
which would take place in August. Our fiscal year ends August 1. There
was discussion of whether our books should be audited

Paul stated that he had met with the
stonemason working on our Memorial Park sign, and the sign should be
done within a week.

Paul stated that our insurance company had
received our payment, and had sent notice to the City that we were
covered concerning the Parade/Festival. Paul stated that we needed to
get insurance for malfeasance of officers. He stated that even if we
don’t anticipatet a need for it, this insurance would be good to
have.

Chris announced that our Grand Marshall is
Ruby Ann Boxcar, who will be at the 39th Street Dance, Festival and
Parade. She is an internationally known comedienne and author that got
her start in Oklahoma City. She will do book signings at Barnes &
Noble. She will be paid $2000, and half of the payment will come from
a sponsor instead of the OKC Pride budget. She will be doing radio and
TV interviews, and will help with emceeing. Her hotel and limo will be
donated.

There would be a Volunteer Meeting May 26
at the IHOP on Belle Isle
at 7 p.m. It was addressed that fewer people were showing up to
volunteer than were signing up to do so. There was discussion of T-
shirt sales, and a booth at the upcoming Gay Rodeo as well as other
events.

Todd Clark was doing the photo ready ad
copy for OKC Pride’s ad in the Metro Star, and this was discussed, and
Victor would do an article in the publication Press releases would
also go to all forms of practical media.

T.J. made the motion that we spend up
to $500 for the Oklahoma Gazette to do a 4 page Pride Guide insert.
Latricia Oldstead seconded it, and it passed.

Jessica gave her report about Teen/
Student Participation. There was discussion of a luau theme for the
young people’s party. She would attempt to involve the gay youth group
that is meeting at the Unitarian Church, as well as college groups.

Guy brought up our Interpride
Membership. On October 15 of this year they will hold their 29th
conference in St.Petersburg, Florida.

There will be a Meet the Chiefs
event where one can meet with the OKC Fire & Police Chiefs. TJ will
attend the one on May 19, but this event will also be held May 21 26
and 28.

We adjourned.
