OKC PRIDE, INC
BOARD MEETING
JUNE 1, 2009
Meeting was called to order at 7:15 by co-chair Paul Thompson.
Guests—Robin Dorner, Lisa Escalon with OKC AIDS Walk, Dan Johnson
Membership comments—none
Treasurer’s report—The Memorial Park sign is paid for and it is
already up at the park. No written report tonight but we have around
$10,000 in one account and around $1000 in the operating account.
Motion by Miles Tompkins with second by Dean Crawford to approve
report. Motion passed.
Co-chair—Paul Thompson is going to the bank tomorrow to have the
Memorial Park sign contractors signature notarized.
Committee reports
Festival—TJ explained that things are pretty much ready to go with the
festival. She found a deal for $350 for 25,000 stickers for counting
people at our events. It appears that non-profits are not registering
for the festival this year. It was decided that a group of people
will call the non-profits and see if we can get them to register.
Motion by TJ McKinsey with second by Dean Crawford to empower Nathan
Thomspons to negotiate on the behalf of OKC Pride. Motion passed.
Entertainment—done except for 1 hour
Parade—Ruby Ann Boxcar is the parade Grand Marshall. The community is
very excited about this. There is an city ordinance 27-3 that deals
with throwing stuff from floats.
Volunteers/membership—big response on the new database. Miles is
worried about the set up and tear down of the festival. Next meeting
is Friday June 12th at 7pm at Belle Isle IHOP.
T-shirt/Fundraising—we were a vendor at the rodeo. We sold jello
shots during rodeo weekend. We have decided to have a meet and greet
with Ruby Ann Boxcar on 6/26/09 from 6 to 7 pm. Location pending.
OKC Pride and Copa are having a dinner show on 6/22/09. Tickets are
$20.00. There will be dinner, a show, and silent auction. Sonja
Martinez is performing. We got a $5000.00 sponsor for the 5K Run for
next year. That is Aspen Athletic Club. We may have a booth at the
state fair this year. We want to have a fall gala between November
and December. Motion by Dean Crawford with second by TJ McKinsey to
pursue an application for a booth at the state fair. Next meeting is
6/3 at Applebee’s on Memorial.
PR—press releases have been sent out. Fox 25 wants to interview Ruby
Ann boxcar. The Gazette is giving us a 4 page editorial with a junior
size page add in full color. Motion by TJ McKinsey with second by
Miles Tompkins to pay $1000 to Gazette for the advertising. Motion
passed.
Website/database—need information for other events page. Changes will
be made after Pride is over.
