Language TBD.

You have a preference?

Well if we do Randori style, then I'll follow along with the group.

But if we do it in pairs or alone, I might pick Ruby or Groovy.

I'll hand make punch cards and read them in via OCR to generate a
brain$&@! solution.

Or.... I don't care and I'll just follow the crowd.

Do we have a rough idea of what the plan is for this Thursday yet?

I have an idea that *might* work, if we're still in need of one. I
totally don't want to step on any toes though. I can always save it
for later.

I think we should take a traditional kata (one from Dave Thomas' list) and work it in one language. Pick the language.

I'd say:
C++
C#
Java
...

OK, I'll save my experiment for another time.

Do'h. No, like a typical spaz, I simply threw out an idea.

James, please bring your idea and let's run with it.

No worries. I was going to suggest we play with a very alpha piece of
software I wrote just this weekend. Giving me a little more time will
allow me make it more robust and test it more before inflicting it on
the group. We can do it at a later meeting.

Your kata idea is good.

So would we write a client as the kata?

For my challenge? Yes. It's a game server. The exercise would be to
build a player. We can try it down the road a bit, if that sounds
interesting.

I've been wanting to do such a kata for quite a while especially if it's a restful or some other language independent interface into the server.

It is language independent.

I didn't use (RESTful) HTTP, but it's a simple line-oriented
protocol. Any environment that can open a socket, read lines from it,
and write lines to it would work fine.

Cool, we did a similar thing well over a year ago. It was my favorite
session to date.

Let's do the kata.

I'll refine the server, to make sure it's ready for the abuse, then
you guys can beat on it at a later meeting.
