Too long of an email - sorry

Although most (if not all) dojo's are centered around code, I am also
interested in having a session over some 'nosql' solutions. Ideally I
would like to have scenario's where nosql would be a good fit and
where it would not be, thus arming us with better/more information to
make these decisions in the work place. It would also be neat to go
through setting up a clustered environment of these solution(s). I
would probably rely heavily upon other people to help out with this
session, if the group did choose to do so.

I would also like to set forth time at the beginning of every meeting
and allow any person, or all, to present a code kata they have been
working on. It does not matter if many people present the same kata.

I personally enjoy the Randori
(http://codingdojo.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?back=RandoriKata) style of
dojos, but I feel that most people like to go alone or pair up to
solve a problem. So all of the meetings I'm planning on organizing
will have the attendees code either alone or in pairs/teams.

My time will be hindered come the Fall as my daughters school will
start back up and Softball then Basketball begins again. I'm going to
make this a commitment and will be there for each meeting unless a
game falls on the night. At which time I will reschedule the meeting
to be either earlier or later in the month.

It sounds stupid, but I would like to get some pictures taken of us so
we can post them on Twitter and on the http://codingdojo.org/ site.
Showing examples of how we organize/run our dojo.

So for a schedule, it looks like .... as a side note, I am thinking
about holding the Dojo's around the third or fourth week of the month.
So many user group meetings are towards the beginning of the month, so
I'm hoping in doing so we would have more attendance and would be nice
to go to the okcDG/JUG/ok-rb meeting then two weeks later go to a
Dojo, nice and spread out.

July 22nd - Brett will be here for this one, we will probably discuss
what I have stated in this email further, I am very receptive to
opinions.

August 26-ish Start with an easier kata such as FizzBuzz
(http://codingdojo.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?back=KataFizzBuzz), take
different people's solutions and show them to the group - would be
awesome to see it solved in different languages. I would like to have
about 2 or 3 simple katas, have all 'teams' solve it, then taking
turns presenting to the group.

September 23-ish I would like to have a .NET app which hasn't been
tested at all and breaks some 'best' practices for Unit Testing. I
would like to go through this project and make changes to make it
better for Unit Testing.

October 28-ish I was thinking about bringing in FitNesse during this
meeting. I would like to have all the requirements hashed out as to
what the project will do, and have this drive our development.
Something very similar to Brett's Video Recorder Fitnesse tutorial
http://schuchert.wikispaces.com/FitNesse.Tutorials.0

November 25-ish Possibly a little more complicated kata such as
http://codingdojo.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?back=KataBankOCR or PragDave's
BloomFilters

December - skip or possibly meet earlier in the month?

Although I'm a huge proponent of TDD, I'm not going to push this upon
anybody. (maybe except for the Sept. 23rd meeting)

Last item - for time I will be looking at having these for two hours.
Quite possibly from 6:30 - 8:30, we can adjust these times if the need
arises.

That is all,
Chad

Do we know what is the planned challenge of this meeting yet?

I get the impression from Chad that it's related to no-sql.

Maybe we'll use mongo db!-)

Sorry for the confusion, but I was going to rely on Brett for this
next meeting. I will need much more time to get prepared for the nosql
one (if we so choose to do so).
