I'm a complete beginner in TMX and am trying to use Olifant 3.0.8 to create a TMX from a plain text file in utf-8 encoding. I'm using the "tab-delimited" import option.  The default settings in the "table import options" window look fine, and clicking OK produces no error, and produces the right number of records, but the two columns for source and target text show only blank text.

My understanding of a "tab-delimited" file is that each line contains:
• the source text
• a tab character
• the target text
• CR/LF

I've tried both with and without byte-order-mark in the text file.

What am I missing?  Thank you.

Thank you.  Setting the "language", as you suggested, and also changing the "field type" from "attribute" to "text", has fixed the problem.
