Hi there,

In the Excel options of the okf_openxml filter I see three areas to exclude columns (for sheets 1, 2 and 3+).

(Btw, there's a typo in the three strings: it should be "exclude", but it says "exlude".)

However, I don't see an option to "include" the column that I want.

If I just want to include one column in one sheet, is it not possible to select/include just that? Do I need to exclude all columns except that one in that sheet and all columns in the other sheets?

I hope my question makes sense. Thanks!

Cheers, Manuel

Hi Manuel,

I do not think that is supported in the OpenXML filter.
I guess as a quick workaround, save your sheets to CSV and use the table filter which allows you to define columns to process, etc.

Thanks, Álvaro.

I mean, the reason for my question is not that I have a problem per se, but from my perspective (and based on all the Excel files that I see everyday) it makes much more sense to select what you want to extract rather than to select everything and then unselect what you don't want to extract.

There might be projects where you need to translate everything in the Excel file (or almost everything or where excluding something is the exception rather than the rule), but my) Excel files usually contain a lot of information and often only one column somewhere contains text for translation. It's just a minor usability thing I guess, what matters is that the results in the end are the same.

Converting Excel to CSV is a step that I wanted to avoid, but I might reconsider it (for this and other reasons).

Thanks.
Cheers, Manuel

For some reason I was not able to make use of the settings on a standard CSV table. I sent a message about that a few weeks ago and I did not get any reply.

If there is a setting I missed, I'd love to know what it is. Would you be able to help ?

Hi Jean-Christophe,
I'd suggest you start a new thread (or at least change the subject line).
Cheers, Manuel
