We have a new sign up form for Midwifery Advocacy If you are a champion of midwifery, we want to know you. So we're creating a list that we can go to for help when we need it.
PLEASE SIGN UP! If all you can do is tweet a pre-written message once a week, that's great! We need you!
If you're willing to forward or post interesting stories about midwifery but don't have time to find them, we'll hook you up!
Let us know if you consider yourself very motivated, a wee bit motivated, or just want to stay informed!
• A walk, march or run, a street parade or a rally in a public place
• Set up stalls in a market-place or other popular area to publicize midwifery services and to offer information & advice
• A meeting, workshop or conference to hear about developments in midwifery and exchange news with other supporters in the region
• Challenge a friend or a group in your region to see who can send the most letters to a local MLA!
Get political!
It’s as easy as sending a letter. Use this easy MLA finder and tool kit on the MABC website to remind your MLA that midwives provide cost effective, safe, primary health care for pregnant women and newborn babies, and that midwives can help alleviate maternity care crisis facing rural British Columbia.
• Open a Twitter account and start a campaign to gain followers (tweet @bcmidwives) or start a Facebook page
• Raise money to help midwives overseas where extra resources are greatly needed. For example buying bicycles for midwives' transport in remote areas, sponsoring a midwife to attend an important conference, or supporting UBC's Students for Global Citizenship.
We also have buttons that you can place on your website! Visit our website to download one of our four buttons.
