I have put together a powerpoint presentation now, although it may
need further attention. I didn't re-read what the plan was for the
final presentation and I didn't have any soundtrack guidance, so I
just added to Lisa's work and made a video out of it all. I'm very
open to suggestions for making it better.

It is posted on YouTube so that people can see it, although it is
super low quality, as I had to compress the file size a lot. Have a
look and imagine it is better quality and then forward suggestions my
way...

Hugs to everyone involved!!! You have done an incredible job of this -
Thank-you.

I have 2 minor suggestions. Could the word "local" be put in the second
slide. ...opportunity for local women...so no one thinks we hired actors or
advocates.

Also the slide near the end that begins with "After my daughter was born"
advances too quickly so I could not read all the words in the time allowed.
Otherwise it is perfect in my eyes.

Love the song!

Ruth

And the slide that begins with

Thank-you Anne-Marie!
Could that slide with a lot of text be split into 2?
I wonder if a closing couple of slides that kind of summarize our aim for having the red tent and creating the video would help wrap it up, and get our message out at the same time. This is great that it is on youtube!

Hi Anne-Marie,

I just, just got your dropped-off CD to work. I had to install a program to
watch it with since it was created with a Mac (?). Anyways...well done. My
version didn't advance on it's own and I didn't have music playing, but
after reading Ruth's review..I had a look at the Youtube version and see all
those things are in working order.
Also I see the typo errors on the CD version have been fixed up. What a
great song!

This is really good. Both the Red Tent committee and anyone in power
positions viewing it here (IHA, KGH) will get a clear, concise message that
The Red Tent Event is about voices telling their stories en route to change
for the better.

Thanks for the comments so far...
I have added the word "local" to the first text slide, and as for that
long last slide...it felt awkward to split it into two slides, so i
just cut down the text to make the point short and salient.
We can certainly add a slide or two at the end to make a few final
points, but I'm not totally sure what they would say, so draft them up
and I will add them. Also, as we have already written a letter for
IHA/KGH about the Red Tent, the folks seeing this presentation will
hopefully have a clear context for our goals in this project.
Once everyone has added their two cents, I'll save it to disk and pass
it forward to whom? Who is going to deliver this into the hands of
power with our letter???
It's lovely to see the event culminating...thanks again to Lisa for
keeping the wheels turning on this last piece!

So I have made the corrections that were suggested, and the slideshow
has been burned onto a DVD that will be readable on all DVD players
and computers. Now where can I deliver this DVD; I am still unsure
about the next step??? I would love to see it in an envelope with the
Truth Initiative letter, enroute to KGH!

Was an accompanying list of signatures ever created? The one that would
accompany the letter to IHA/KGH? We had talked/written about how the amount
of signatures from the last Red Tent wasn't really impressive and how
leaving the letter/invitation to sign on the table at Lakelands might up
those numbers....was that done?

I think the truth initiative letter needs to be included to put the dvd into context. It should probably go to the IH Perinatal Committee, the KGH Board of Directors, and the KGH Perinatal 'Work Group. I forget, did the truth initiative letter ask for consumer representation on the perinatal committee/work group? It would also have more impact if it was delivered personally at a face to face meeting, don't you think??

Hi!  I had the same question as Terra about signatures for the letter.

I don't think the letter requests consumer representation on the perinatal working group, Lani, though that sounds like a good idea.  I think the Mother-Friendly Childbirth info (ten steps + self-evaluation tool for maternity care providers) should accompany that package as well, as we alluded to those items in the letter.

An face-to-face presentation sounds like a good idea.  Does anybody know the protocol for getting on their agenda?  And who would be best-suited to make that presentation (or who would feel comfortable doing so)?

I will email the YouTube link to the folks at BOLD (will it be staying on YouTube?  I hope so!), and if I could pick up a copy of the burned DVD to mail off to them, that would be great too.  Maybe I could pick it up at the clinic if you leave a copy in the mailbox, Anne-Marie?

Lisa...
I will leave the DVD in the mailbox at the clinic early this
afternoon, so you can easily grab it. The DVD is such better quality
than the YouTube version, so I think we should definitely send it off!

HI all,

I am just rereading this set of messages, as I recall having the Red Tent DVD in my hands at one point, but couldn't remember what happened next.  Now I remember:  I did pick it up at the clinic where Anne-Marie had left it, and I sent it off with the BOLD package to the BOLD folks...however, as I'm reading the series of messages leading up to that, I'm concerned that Anne-Marie may have thought I was sending it off for the Truth Initiative to the folks at IH, not realizing that I was taking care of the package for the BOLD wrap-up.  So Anne-Marie, I'm truly truly hoping you still have the original version on your hard-drive, or maybe saved to another DVD, because I no longer have it!  I think if we're really stuck, we may be able to track down the version through the folks at BOLD and ask them to make a copy to send to us, but that might take some extra time.

Do let me know if I should pursue that though!

way to track down this old communication trail, lisa!
i wasn't able to save the exact DVD that i did earlier, not sure why
the program never lets me save stuff.
but i just put another one together that's pretty close to the other
one, and it is ready to leave my hands now.
i'll stay tuned for an opportunity to pass it forward with the hopes
that it meets some KGH eyes...
