Is this thing on? [tap tap tap]

Looks like something strange is going on at cox.net.

Yeah.
It's on.
But that NNTP-Posting-Host sure looks weird...
It's showing you are posting from 209.218.162.90 which nslookup
indicates is COX-209-218-xxx-90.coxinet.net

I didn't even know Cox had any IP space in the 209.xx.xx.xx range.
Learn something new every day or so it seems...

Are you connecting via dial up or cable modem?
If cable modem are you by chance on the orignal segment in OKC?
Roadrunner, wasn't it?

No, it was Cox - it's their business division that runs their
fiber-optic network in town and sells T-1 access. I've seen them pop
up before - the co-lo at Inter.net uses a Cox DS-3 to hit the OC-12
backbone. I guess in certain areas of town the new routers are using
the older fiber to feed into the backbone, just as you suggest.

Just noticed this - "Todd Witten" sounds really damn familiar - I
wonder if interviewed with him once? Although, all my contacts have
been with the Cox Communications office in the far north part of town,
where I believe the new servers are for the HSI network and is the
local call center for Internet. And the address, too - yeah, they are
definitely the Cox network provider. 210 Park is the Oklahoma Tower,
where a buttload of heavy-duty equipment is located. The major
routers and servers for PSINet were down in the basement, and I think
UUNet's are as well. I never got a chance to go down there and check
it out...

It's us. Todd is the admin for the commercial IP blocks in OKC.

This block is usually used for off-hfc (not cable modem but T-1 or Ethernet)
services for Cox Business Services.

They traverse the same backbone and are not on an 'older network' it is just
a block of IP addresses we have had for some time.
