The question is how do you translate mooring whip?
Nothing kinky. Like the time my dad left a fishing pole stuck in the rocks and found it bent double by a huge trout, these things keep small boats from banging against the dock or drifting away. Buckminster fuller would've called it a pair of tensegrity hawsers, perhaps.
German would be easy. Remember those cartoons of someone fishing up an old boot? They prolly call it Dat Boot Getensionenhauser or some such. But Spanish and Portuguese? No clue.
