First, there are no port o potties at the start. The first ones are on the trail at about mile 4.5. And there is restrooms when you leave the trail at about mile 8.2.
The GPS file I was trying to use was corrupt. I didn't have a copy of the cue sheet. I wasn't too far from David Buzzee's house and I luckily he was home and he gave me a copy of the cue and the cues for the detour. David and Alex are correcting the GPS. But it might be a good idea to take the cue sheet and build your own file. And of course, bring the cue sheet with you. I had no problem following the cues. The posted cue sheet on the Ohio Rando site does not have the detour.
When you leave the
Mt Sterling control you will be on Rt 56 for 2.8 miles that will have heavy traffic due to the traffic using as a detour for the closure on Rt 62. There is no shoulder.
At mile 84.9 the cue is "ramp> Wren" There is no ramp, just a normal left turn. Wren has the only climbing on the route.
Two rough roads of note:
62.9 L SS Big Plain Circleville Rd for 3 miles.
103.9 L sharp L Lucas Rd, again for 3 miles.
At mile 116 you join a bike trail. Take every road crossing with extra care, every crossing is on a busy road. Lots of locals will be on the trail for 2-3 miles. Lots of kids not paying attention. Consider a bell. I'm local, I use a bell when riding our trail system. As you get closer to downtown trail traffic will increase significantly.
Enjoy the 2 blocks of real cobbles on Town St. at mile 127.6. The last few miles to the finish will be slow due to traffic lights and stop signs every couple of blocks. No fast sprint to the finish.
A SW wind will push you home from the
Mechanicsburg control.
All the controls were open, and had restrooms.
Hope everyone has a safe ride.
