Here's our list of bicycle touring events coming up this weekend:

Saturday, 7/19 16th DOG DAYS WINE TOUR. Oberlin. The tour includes scenic routes of 28/50/62 miles over Lorain County’s gentle rolling backroads. Rest stops are at local wineries offering snacks, drinks, and wine tastings. Wine purchases will be transported to the finish for your convenience. Entry includes a hot post-ride meal in the sports complex facility, with showers available year. Online entry closes July 15, but on-site registration will be available the day of the event. Saturday, 7/19. NIGHT RIDES ON THE TOWPATH. Massillon. Join bike shop staff for their monthly night ride! Starting from their Lake Ave Trailhead location, head out on the Sippo or Towpath trails to enjoy the evening and see these familiar paths in a whole new light (or lack thereof). This is a free, 14- to 18-mile beginner-friendly ride over flat terrain, with a bicycle shop team member at the front and rear of the group. Helmet and headlight/taillight required. Saturday, 7/19. 36th METROPARKS TOUR. Whitehouse. Visit up to four scenic wooded Toledo Area Metroparks connected via Northwest Ohio back roads and paved bike trails. Ride your choice of 15, 31, or 62 flat miles and enjoy views of the beautiful Maumee River, historic Fallen Timbers Monument, and rural countryside. Longer routes reach Fulton County. Saturday, 7/19. 16th STEVE BARBOUR MEMORIAL RIDE. Dublin. A perfect training ride for Pelotonia! Ride the relatively flat routes northwest of Columbus on routes of 35/62/100 miles. Celebrating the life of Steve Barbour, a dedicated and longtime ride leader for Columbus Outdoor Pursuits. COP memorializes Steve and the other cyclists tragically taken from us by careless drivers. Saturday, 7/19. GREENE COUNTY NIGHT RIDE. Xenia. Join the Greene County Trail Sentinels for a free evening ride along the county’s bike trails! All rides leave from the Xenia Station bike hub at 7 p.m. and return to Xenia Station between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. The average speed is about 10 mph. Rides are out-and-back routes, mostly on bike trails, 20 to 30 flat miles, with a stop midway for an optional ice cream break. No registration is required. Saturday, 7/19. GREENE COUNTY BIKE TOUR FOR VETERAN SUICIDE PREVENTION. Xenia. This ride will showcase the extensive trail system in Greene County with all proceeds benefiting the Greene County Suicide Prevention Veteran Committee. Planned routes of 10/30/60 flat miles will be supported with rest stops and refreshments. Each participant registered by June 6 will receive a commemorative tee shirt. Saturday – Sunday, 7/19 – 7/20. BIKE MS: OXFORD. Oxford. Cycle through the gorgeous, wooded countryside, over historic covered bridges, and along the rolling hills and farmland of southwest Ohio with a community of riders dedicated to changing the world for people with MS. This bika-a-thon, a two-day event, is back with flat to very hilly route options between 25 and 100 miles. Enjoy dinner on the quad, an inspiring evening program, live music and beer garden. Saturday – Saturday, 7/19 – 7/26. 24th XOBA: ‘CROSS OHIO BICYCLE ADVENTURE. Powhatan Point, Ohio. Started in 1998, this is a week-long bicycle excursion that travels Ohio from one border to another. The route is different each year, giving participants a new experience with varied scenery and terrain, and draws participants from across the country, and even from other countries. A reminder... OBF is seeking a replacement for long-time Calendar editor James Guilford who will end his service in that capacity at the end of this year. The volunteer position includes collecting cycling event information from hosts, organizing and editing listings into a consistent format, and publishing the guide in an online medium. Print publication of the Calendar is paused, possibly permanently. If interested, please contact Guilford via the OBEC website.
