Ride the beautiful Holmes County Rail Trail for 18/24/32 miles or head for the hills and valleys of Holmes and Wayne Counties for a challenging and breathtaking road ride of 42 or 62 miles. Saturday, 9/27. 39^th FALL HOOT – HEART OF OHIO TOUR. Carroll. Part of the COP Cycling Series and is known for its challenging routes, this event features routes of 35/62/100 hilly miles, with the difficulty increasing as the mileage increases. Saturday, 9/27. GREENE COUNTY NIGHT RIDE. Xenia. Join the Greene County Trail Sentinels for a free evening ride along the county’s bike trails! All rides leave from the Xenia Station bike hub at 7 p.m. and return to Xenia Station between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. The average speed is about 10 mph. Rides are out-and-back routes, mostly on bike trails, 20 to 30 flat miles, with a stop midway for an optional ice cream break. No registration is required. Saturday, 9/27. 12^th TWISTED PRETZEL BICYCLE TOUR. Germantown. Welcome back to the beautiful countryside around Germantown and Farmersville to enjoy a ride suited to all skill levels and ages. Four routes are offered: 8/21/34/47 mostly flat to hilly miles. There are one to three rest stops depending on the route chosen. As always, net proceeds benefit local food banks and civic organizations. After the ride riders may leave their bicycles attended by organizers while they enjoy historical Germantown, including the annual Germantown Pretzel Festival, the Lions Beer Tent. A reminder... OBF is seeking a replacement for long-time Calendar editor James Guilford who will end his service in that capacity at the end of this year. The volunteer position includes collecting cycling event information from hosts, organizing and editing listings into a consistent format, and publishing the guide in an online medium. Print publication of the Calendar is paused, possibly permanently. If interested, please contact Guilford via the OBEC website.
