Saturday, 9/13. BEXLEY TO VALLERY FARMHOUSE BAKERY. Columbus. Mix of rural and urban bike paths, including a bakery and scenic Dublin, Ohio. Mostly flat but not boring 82.7 miles. Some traffic-controlled suburban and city streets. Ohio Rando rides are rain or shine! Entry Deadline: September 11. Membership in RUSA (rusa.org) is required. Saturday, 9/13. NIGHT RIDES ON THE TOWPATH. Massillon. Join bike shop staff for their monthly night ride! Starting from their Lake Ave Trailhead location, head out on the Sippo or Towpath trails to enjoy the evening and see these familiar paths in a whole new light (or lack thereof). This is a free, 14- to 18-mile beginner-friendly ride over flat terrain, with a bicycle shop team member at the front and rear of the group. Helmet and headlight/taillight required. Saturday, 9/13. 40th COVERED BRIDGE TOUR. Canal Winchester. A good training ride for Fall events! Choose from among routes of 34/62/96 hilly miles, with elevation gains of 1,200, 2,800, and 4,000 feet respectively. A summer of riding has made you strong, so you can do this! Fairfield County is known around Ohio for its historic, preserved covered bridges, and these routes visit some of them. Riders are responsible for their food and water. Saturday, 9/13. GABR GREAT MIAMI RIVERWAY EVENT. Hamilton. Explore 22-plus miles riding along the Great Miami Riverway Trail, and/or a 4-mile Ice Cream Trail Loop. Returning this year is the Poker Ride with cash prizes. Food and refreshments available at local establishments. Fruit, drinks, snacks, and event tee shirt provided by GABR. Saturday, 9/13. GREENE COUNTY NIGHT RIDE. Xenia. Join the Greene County Trail Sentinels for a free evening ride along the county’s bike trails! All rides leave from the Xenia Station bike hub at 7 p.m. and return to Xenia Station between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. The average speed is about 10 mph. Rides are out-and-back routes, mostly on bike trails, 20 to 30 flat miles, with a stop midway for an optional ice cream break. No registration is required. Sunday, 9/14. 52nd IRISH HILLS TOUR. Sylvania. Ride back roads and paved trails covering 10/31/62/100 flat to rolling miles (shorter routes are flatter). Longer routes enjoy the beautiful rolling hills of Michigan’s Irish Hills and its green farms and lake-filled lowlands. A full-service tour with rest stops for all, lunch on longer routes. A reminder... OBF is seeking a replacement for long-time Calendar editor James Guilford who will end his service in that capacity at the end of this year. The volunteer position includes collecting cycling event information from hosts, organizing and editing listings into a consistent format, and publishing the guide in an online medium. Print publication of the Calendar is paused, possibly permanently. If interested, please contact Guilford via the OBEC website.
