There are excellent cycling events happening around the state this weekend. Take a look at what is offered!

Saturday, 9/6. 10th LEGACY BIKE RIDE. McCutchenville. Pedal 26/43 flat to gently rolling miles on a ride whose proceeds benefit cancer patients. Advance entry includes a tee shirt; day-of entry available. Included are: two rest stops, restroom facilities, snacks, drinks, and lunch at the end of the trail. Legacy Bike Ride Committee. Saturday, 9/6. MORNING COFFEE RIDE. Massillon. Start the morning out right with a bike ride and a little java! A monthly free, easy-paced ride of 12 to 18 miles on flat trails and city streets, taking a break for coffee along the way. Great for beginners and avid riders who want a break from riding fast. Saturday, 9/6. 17th LIMESTONE CYCLING TOUR. Maysville, Ky. This epic, unforgettable and non-profit event is marked with painted arrows/signs, and have themed rest/SAG stops. The Rotary Club’s initiative to End Polio Now will be the recipient of any surplus funds. The routes of 27/43/67/100 rolling to very hilly miles around Mason and Bracken Counties are simply gorgeous. Roads have minimal traffic and major crossings are to have substantial police and volunteer FD presence. Volunteers and the folks in this quaint, charming, small town are genuinely friendly and are excited to assist each cyclist to make the ride as fun and safe as possible. Saturday, 9/6. GREENE COUNTY MORNING MILERS. Xenia or Beavercreek. Join the Greene County Trail Sentinels for a free morning ride along the county’s bike trails! All rides leave from either the Xenia Station bike hub or from Beavercreek Community Park. Rides start at 9 a.m. and finish around 11 a.m. These rides are not for the beginner skill level and may include a short, off-trail portion with an average of 25-35 flat miles at 15-17 mph. Sunday, 9/7. BIKE THE CBUS. Columbus. Join this annual, one-day bicycle tour that takes riders through various neighborhoods, past historical sites, and along beautiful waterways in and around Columbus, Ohio. Sunday 9/7. 25th SIMON KENTON PATHFINDERS BIKE TOUR. Urbana. A fundraiser for Simon Kenton Pathfinders which maintains 28 miles of the Simon Kenton Trail in Logan and Champaign Counties. Riders’ choice of a 25-mile route (in honor of the 25th anniversary), or a longer route, distance TBD based upon road projects in our area this year. The first two routes will be on both roads and trails in a rural area; some hills on the longer route. Also offered will be a kid/family safe 15-mile ride totally on the trail. A reminder... OBF is seeking a replacement for long-time Calendar editor James Guilford who will end his service in that capacity at the end of this year. The volunteer position includes collecting cycling event information from hosts, organizing and editing listings into a consistent format, and publishing the guide in an online medium. Print publication of the Calendar is paused, possibly permanently. If interested, please contact Guilford via the OBEC website.
