At three p.m. on November 30, 1864 began the meeting of two armies on a soon to be bloodied battlefield in Franklin, Tennessee. While “Ohio in the Civil War” cannot be defined by any one battle or place, telling that to thousands of Ohio’s finest during those five-plus bloody hours would fall on ears deafened by cannon and fire. The blood of the Confederate Army ran deep that day, and the victory, soon to fade to a vague memory for most Americans, would remain strong in the minds of those thousands of men for as long as they lived. Thank you “Ohio in the Civil War” for carrying forward those thousands of memories wherever they were defined. Also thank you Eric Jacobson and Richard Rupp for your two fine books on the battle for Tennessee 1864.
