to Ohio in the Civil War
Hi,

Whirligig (cover image attached) is a newly published novel that uses the 125th Ohio Infantry (the Yankee Tigers) as its backbone. I'm hoping it will be of interest, particularly in Ohio.

My name is Richard Buxton. I live in the UK, but have a strong interest in the American Civil War and won several awards for short stories related to the conflict. I'm a member of the US Civil War Round Table UK Chapter.

I used the letters of the 125th's notable commander, Colonel Emerson Opdycke as well as other great period sources about the 125th. This first book encompasses the regiment's formation in late '62 and the Chattanooga campaign culminating in Chickamauga and Mission Ridge. It's a little more than just a military novel, having a political and a love dimension, but I've striven to make the soldier experience as realistic as possible and have flown to the States many times for research and background, often attending re-enactments.

If you have an interest please post or get in touch via my website or find the book (and eBook) on Amazon. I also have a Facebook page called Shire's Union.

Kind regards,

Richard Buxton
