Captured Cannon at Springfield, Ohio

Hello:

I am trying to find out more about the civil war era cannon now on display at the Clark County Heritage Center, in Springfield, Ohio.

The cannon was one of those captured by the 44th Ohio Infantry at the Battle of Lewisburg, Va. (now W. Va.), on the morning of May 23, 1862.

Application was made to have the gun sent to Springfield, Ohio as a trophy of the battle.  Obviously the application was granted, as the cannon was in Springfield before January 1864.

I would like to find out exactly when the cannon was sent to Springfield, and when it arrived.

I would like to find any correspondence relating to the gun, such as the application, permissions, etc.

I am working on a history of the Battle of Lewisburg, and would like to include this information in it.
