This message applies to results of Connectathon testing of IHE profiles.  Those of you who participated in Consolidated CDA testing will receive a separate report.

Connectathon Results

NA2013 Connectathon results for IHE profile testing are now final in gazelle (menu Connectathon/Connectathon results).

In one week they will be posted in IHE's searchable results database at http://connectathon-results.ihe.net/   I will send a note when this is complete.

These results are published and promoted by the Connectathon sponsors to inform the healthcare community about the breadth of adoption of IHE solutions by industry and to encourage purchasers of healthcare IT systems to require support of IHE Actors and Integration Profiles in their requests for proposals and purchasing specifications.

Publicizing your results

Companies are encouraged to refer to their participation in the Connectathon in marketing and promotional materials. The appropriate language to use is to indicate that the vendor has “completed testing of <<one or more specific IHE actors in one or more IHE integration profiles>>”.

Companies are strongly discouraged from using IHE Connectathon participation to make unsupported product claims, including comparisons with other vendors.   Companies using references to their IHE participation in ways that, in the view of the sponsoring organizations, violate the spirit of the initiative will risk having their names removed from the official list of IHE participants.

IHE Product Registry

Organizations that develop commercial and open source healthcare IT systems are encouraged to publish IHE Integration Statements to indicate their systems' conformance with specifications in the IHE Technical Frameworks. An Integration Statement specifies the IHE capabilities in terms of IHE Actors and Profiles.

IHE has developed a web-based database of Integration Statements. The IHE Product Registry enables organizations to create, manage, and publish Integration Statements for their commercial and open source healthcare IT systems. It allows customers to browse for these systems based on their conformance with specific IHE Actors and Profiles. The system is open for developers and users at:   http://product-registry.ihe.net/

While this email message is targeted towards participants in the recently concluded IHE North American Connectathon 2013, an organization does not have to participate in a Connectathon to publish an IHE Integration Statement in the IHE Product Registry or on its own web site. An IHE Integration Statement is your announcement that your product implements specific IHE actor/profile pairs. IHE makes no such claim on your behalf.

Feedback on the event

We welcome your comments and suggestions for improvement and invite you to complete the online survey.  Some of you have sent notes directly to me, and that is fine as well.

NA2013 Connectathon Trivia

Connectathon participants are often curious about the numbers associated with the bustle of activity on the connectathon testing floor.  Some numbers of note from this year's event…   96 organizations brought 135 test systems to test IHE profiles.  62 profiles were tested in 8 domains.  58 monitors evaluated tests.  In the end, 3737 individual tests were run and then verified by our volunteer monitor staff.   When testing ended on Friday, only 61 tests remained in the 'to be verified' or 'critical' status.  With today's published results, 1096 IHE profile/actor pairs are reported with a "Passed" status. These represent the IHE capabilities successfully tested in the participants' test systems.

A "thank you" from the Connectathon Managers

During the event, all participants -- vendors, monitors, managers --  are absorbed in the demands of the week.  Afterwards, I hope everyone takes a moment to consider how the efforts during the Connectathon have contributed to the goal of IHE -- to define specifications & then test the interoperability between different vendors' products and ultimately improve the quality of delivery of healthcare for the benefit of patients and healthcare providers.  We are grateful for your spirit of cooperation, sharing your technical knowledge and supporting each other in completing tests and working through problems.  It is the key to the success of the event.

With warm regards,

Lynn Felhofer
