Hi All,

In order to support community growth, we are moving our communications to a central location.  Over the last year a small group has been doing research, planning, and design for the forum and decided on Discourse (discourse.ohie.org) and we’re very excited about its possibilities!

Why the move?

Our community expressed an interest in OpenHIE using a more collaborative platform to cross post and share things in a more open manner.  During the 2018 OpenHIE Community Meeting the idea of moving our community communications from listservs to a discussion forum was circulated.  We found the idea of one place for community members to share ideas and have discussions in a public and searchable way was well received.  Learn about more benefits OpenHIE Discourse will bring to the way we communicate on our blog.

What mailing lists are being migrated?

On Friday, December 13th all OpenHIE mailing lists listed below will be put into read-only mode.  Conversations had over these mailing lists will have been migrated to Discourse but will also be archived on Google Groups as a public resource.

  • Announcements
  • Architecture
  • Client Registry
  • DevOps
  • Facility Registry
  • Interoperability Layer
  • Health Finance towards Insurance
  • Health Management Information Systems
  • Health Worker Registry
  • OpenHIE Implementers Network
  • Shared Health Record
  • Supply Chain
  • Terminology Services

How can I get started?

Currently if anyone goes out to discourse.ohie.org they can see posts and activity happening but will need to have an OpenHIE Username to post on the site.  A wiki page has been created to help people signing in and learn how to “watch” specific categories on the site, Getting Started with OpenHIE Discourse.

Thank you all for your patience and help getting OpenHIE to this point!  Customizing this forum will be ongoing and will require your feedback so it meets the needs of the community so under “Site Feedback” category please post questions about the site, its organization, how it’s working for you and how it could be improved.  We’ll review feedback and slowly make adjustments to improve the experience of OpenHIE Discourse for everyone!
