Hey Friends!
My super awesome roommate Laura is working on putting together a video
for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and was wondering if we'd be
willing to help her out at all. She's offered vegan treats in
repayment (and for all of you who were around last Monday, she's the
little gem responsible for those delicious chocolate chip cookies!) I
was thinking maybe we could meet at the Scholar around 8 tomorrow,
provided this is something you're interested in, since it's pretty
quiet and neutral. What say you?
See you soon! Xoxoxo! Amanda!
AND here's the email she sent me, if you'd like more info:
About Sexual Assault Awareness Month 2012
April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) – a time to raise
public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and
individuals on how to prevent sexual violence.
This April, it’s time to start a dialogue, and the topic of the
conversation is healthy sexuality. This year’s SAAM campaign, It’s
time … to talk about it, encourages communities and individuals to
join the conversation on how we connect and respect one another in
order to prevent sexual violence.
The 2012 SAAM campaign focuses on promoting positive expressions of
sexuality and healthy behaviors. Promoting healthy behaviors
encourages sexual interactions and relationships that are consensual,
respectful and informed. By starting the conversation, this dialogue
can build safe, healthy relationships.
How can you support SAAM? Participate in our SAAM video!
What do you have to say about healthy sexuality?
If you’d like to get involved in spreading the word about healthy
sexuality and promote SAAM 2012 -All you have to do is fill in the
blank:
“It’s time… to talk about ____________!”
Choose a word, value, action, idea or theme that expressed healthy
sexuality & share it:
Consent
Trust
Respect
Pleasure
Healthy relationships, ending sexual violence, good communication…
etc. You are also welcome to provide a clip that is more “free form,”
or if you are more comfortable – we have a few stock phrases you can
read.
This video will be shared online & highlighted throughout April. We
know that multimedia & art are POWERFUL ways to reach audiences. Your
support is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
