As far lunch goes, yes so far it's 4 of us, please reserve a table for at least 4 if you get there early Don. If anyone else can make it, please RSVP by tomorrow morning.

Thanks,
Arnold

If I get there early, how many seats should I save for the group?  I've counted 4 thus far; Mark, Arnold, AC & "Slick".

Great, I look forward to talking with everyone tomorrow. Sounds like the beginning of a future venture. Lets not put too much pressure on anyone person. I fully believe this should be a fun learning experience.

See you soon!

Cori,

Lunch was great! Good to get together with like-minded people, who want to make money trading as a primary source of income or as a significant secondary source (good to have multiple sources). It was a great introduction to each other. Al Clark, Mark Politi, Donald Garwood and myself were there. We are planning a session at Univ. of Phoenix with internet connectivity next week compliments of Professor Clark (who teaches there).  We will let all know when we work out the details of the date/time. Sounds good doesn't it?

Arn

Aloha Arnold,
Good meeting today.  A great ice-breaker.  Do you happen to remember the name of Bob Eldridge's strategy you were talking about today?  I'd like to check further into it.

Looking forward to getting back from Seattle to continue attending these meetings.

Mahalo and aloha for now,
Mark

Thanks, AC, & Arnold for 'kick-starting' the group.  I see that it will be beneficial and fun at the same time.

I hope others can join in on our mission- TO MAKE EXTRA DOUGH!

Hi Mark,

Yes, there were 2 strategies that I mentioned taught by Bob Eldridge, who is one of the BT mentors/instructors. He's a cool mature guy, who tries to keep his classes as reasonably priced as possible. I like him because he truly has his students benefit in mind when he teaches. They are as follows:

1) Get-in / Get-Out, this is a quick trade for quick profits. One selects fast-moving lower priced S&P 500 stocks. At the very end of the trading day (within the last half hour), you purchase a large quantify of one stock ,typically 1000 shares). Then the next trading day, you set it to sell at .25 cents above your purchase price for a quick $250 less commissions strategy. The odds of this trade working are in the high 90 percentage points. Please note, this strategy works best in more stable market conditions and is not suitable for the type of volatility we've been experiencing.

2) The other trade he is known for is his S&P 500 strangles, which is a neutral strategy. These are typically higher-priced stocks with LOTS of price movement (either up or down), For your selected candidates, if there is a price movement upward that day and the general trend of the market is upward, you purchase CALLs 3-4 months near the money (but not at the money for affordability). If there is price movement downward that day and the general trend of the market is downward, you purchase PUTs 3-4 months near the money.  He even shows you step by step, how to automate this strategy using conditional trades, so you don't have to be online during the trading day.  With this strategy, you try to play one side (either the CALL or the PUT). However, if you had purchased the CALL and then stock turns abruptly around in the opposite direction, you purchase the PUT and visa versa. Because you are filtering for stocks (he shows you how to do this in Extreme Charts) that tend to have extreme price movements, even if you purchased both CALLs and PUTs on the same stock, you can still make money if the movement is extreme. It has built-in safety measures (Bob Eldridge has this down to a science, this strategy does takes practice). This is a longer term trade; you purchase CALLs and PUTs 3-4 months out to give the security plenty of time to move and for you to take corrective actions.

By the way, Bob Eldridge has a hands-on online workshop with real trades practicing these and other strategies everyday (used to be $995 or so) at the opening bell. Or you can opt for his evening sessions (afternoon in Hawaii) twice a week for 2-3 months for the same price. He's a very patient instructor (uses Extreme Charts and Real Time Markets extensively).

I know you just wanted the name, but I explained the strategies for the benefit of others. Hope this helps,

Have a great trip to Seattle!
Arnold

LIVE CHARTS.COM vs. EXTREME CHARTS

Live charts . com looks to be about $20/mo.  How much is/was Extreme Charts?  What's the difference between the two?

I will take a look and get back with you, I first glance, I think extreme charts are real time in terms of updates and streaming.

Good morning Arnold. Awesome info, this is the sort of stuff we will be able to explore once we have the conf room and have access to the Internet. I need to echo all comments regarding the ice breaker we had at lunch. You know they say that a rising tide lifts all boats. I really enjoyed the sharing that Mark offered from his experience, and I know that this will continue to be a enriching encounter for all involved.

I look forward to our next session where I hope to see us delineate the way ahead.

Cheers,
ac
