Trading Note: Daily Savings kicked in yesterday, so now there is a 6 hour difference between HST and EST. I was wondering why the market closed at 10:00am today instead of 11:00am.  That means if you want to trade at the opening bell,  one has to wake up at 3:30am. I love trading, but not that much. Anyway, I've heard lots of recommendations not to trade during the first 1/2 hour of trading.

Do any of you have access to Dedicated Trader OR Extreme Charts?

If any of you bought Dedicated Trader (DT) and/or Extreme Charts, there are daily purchase recommendations in DT. If you only bought Extreme Charts (like I know AC did), you can actually pull the recommendations from DT, even if you didn't purchase DT through the module called "Simultrade". Of all the BT products, I only use Extreme Charts now.

I hadn't used DT recommendations in ages, but today I was undecided on what to purchase so I tried one of them, DVN (and made a little $).

DT made 2 Puts and 1 Call recommendations for 3/9 (today). They ALL made $$, but you had to catch them early. This pleasantly surprised me, because when I used DT last year, I had a challenging time making any $.  Maybe they have better analysts working on their recommendations now. If you are new to options, you should actively paper trade these recommendations if you have access to any of these products.

Bearish:
DVN Apr 50 PUT DVNPW: + .82 (+7.52%)
UNP Arp 40 PUT UHPPH  + 1.30 (+21.31%)

Bullish
STJ Apr 30 CALL STJDF +.90 (+25%)

I got another yr's subscription on both. Can you imagine if you got in
when the two puts headed down a few weeks ago? Darlene says you can
make money quicker on puts. Shucks. And the call was a good one a
couple of days ago...shucks.
I am going to do the 10 winning paper trades to get my confidence up
again after two trades that went against me and neva follow my plan to
pull the plug. So back to basics and will be writing them down on
Darlene's record keeping form. I can email copies to who ever is
interested. I also have her LEAPS DVDs if any of you want to try and
view together? She recommends that you watch it a few times to digest
it and get it. If the markets are done going down, this might be a
good time to buy a leap and when it is done going up sell a call - if
I remembered right.
Anyway, thank you Arnold for all of your energy. I actually went to
the retake to hook up with other newbies. Need to stick with like
minded traders to keep the dream alive. Hopefully, when we can achieve
steady income we can travel to the Summit's together from Hawaii!!!!
Aloha, Cori

HI Cori,

It's definitely good to have tools to work with and BT tools are integrated to each other. Yes, I think paper trading is definitely a good idea, especially with option trading. As far as LEAPS go, I haven't taken the course on these longer term options, but the concept is certainly interesting and should be a good strategy to learn and apply (hopefully soon).

Keep up your communication with the group and thanks for it.

Good morning Cori. Thanks for sharing your information. I hope you will be
able to attend our next session. At that time I will be interested in
viewing the LEAPS DVD, as I am sure Slick, Mark and Arnold would also be
interested in doing. We are in the process of finding a time and date that
meet all of our schedules. We will keep you in the loop.

Cheers,
AC

Hi AC,
I'm more available on Tues and Fridays and Sat's I don't know what
everyone's work schedules are but there are 10 disks. What hours is
the room available? Arnold, I don't remeber what the cost was, I'd
have to dig out the receipt but you get a discount if you puchase any
class or DVD's after any session with an instructor, so it was
definitely less than 3K. That would be a good idea, for those
interested in looking at the Leaps DVD to attend Darlene's free 1 hour
class to get a preview of what this one strategies of hers is.
So where is everyone at with stock picks? Are we ready for a little
pull back? Did anyone make some money or has a winning trade on? My
problem is I need to pick one strategy instead of looking at the q's
or the spreads or ones with earnings. So many to choose from.
Alright, I just was looking at DELL the other day for a call and never
followed thru but now it had a close candle that looks like it might
be at resistance, so I plugged it in to the DT in-the-money puts and
it had two choices so I chose the April one and will see what tomorrow
will be like. Paper trade #1. Got to get to sleep to wake up to see,
anyone getting up at 3 in the AM. That's my other problem, it's so
cold.
Goodnight, Cori
