oh2600 group,

I'm selling the following items:

- Asus EEE PC 900
- Clamshell case designed for said netbook
- HP retractable usb micro mouse
- Asus external disc drive/cd/dvd (re)writer

Everything is in new condition and I will be bringing everything to
the meeting tonight.
I'd like to get 200$ for the entire package. Best offer?
I just checked and I think it's a better deal than what you will find
on eBay.

Looking forward to the meeting,
Justice

Hello Justice.

I'm toying with the idea of using an iPad to do remote support on a
Windows network. What is your feel for the amount of memory you need
in the iPad? How much are you using? What are you using it for? I'm
tempted to get 64Gb, but with any accessories it gets real expensive
real quick.

Thanks

I got the 16GB model and havnt run into any capacity problems at all. I think I'm still not even half full. But I guess that all depends on a persons usage. Mine typical usage is as follows.

- I just put some programming tutorials on there. No movies. If I really want to watch a movie I'll just open the Netflix app.

- I have between 15 and 20 music albums on it.

- I have 5 solid pages of apps, so I do a lot of downloading.

-The ram in all ipad models is the same so I wouldn't think that getting/more expensive model would benifit your  purposes.

Lastly, I would check out LogMeIn Ignition for ipad. Iv used logmein for years and love it. The free version works for my purposes. The videos showing the remote desktop experience looks incredable. Works with pc and mac. Let me know if I can tell you anything else. My inclination is to want to sell you on getting an ipad just cause I love it so much but I'm not a network guy so I don't know the exact nature of your needs.

Can you plug a USB drive or memory card into it?

I'm thinking that LogMeIn and Remote Desktop will let me do all the
remote support I need.

Thanks

No, you can't. Apple sells a camera kit which let's you plug in a usb but its made in such a way as to only recognize picture file formats. Some hackers figured out out to make it do more I heard a while ago. There are more fancy things you can do if ur willing to jailbreak. Its laughably easy to do so might want to look into it. I email anything I need to one of my gmail accounts and then just open/download the attachment from my ipad. This may seem stupid to a lot of people but for me, these gmail accounts force me to organize and provide free cloud storage via the gmail attachments. I even have every sms and mms backed up to a gmail account but that's another story.

That's the the thing that stops me from getting an IPAD if I wait something will come out that is better and won't force me to use the product (I PURCHASED) the way they want me to. IE: I have a Verizon Droid running the Android OS. Unlike the Apple IPhone I'm not under the thumb of big brother Apple telling me what I can or can not do with MY phone.

So I think I'm going to wait for an IPAD like device that has USB ports and expandable storage.

For god sakes Apple it's 2010!! Not giving people things like USB ports or expandable storage is insane! Sometimes I think there regressing more then there progressing :P

Its a business move for Apple and the strong contrast people make between ios and Android will not last. All new android phones from verizon now come with encrypted bootloaders that match code on the phones chip so you can't change roms anymore.

I'm skeptical about something better comming along in the next 2 years. I havnt yet touched an android phone that's as smooth and responsive as the first iPhone released over three years ago.

There are a few annoying work arounds but even with those taken into account, I think the iPad experience is a win.

The froyo update is supose to hit the droid real soon and free tethering with it. This means I will be able to tether my ipad through my phone for free internet. I tried it already. You can watch Netflix movies on your iPad no matter where you are. The pseudo multitasking ios update is coming to the iPad this fall too.

My point is why would you want to change the ROM on an Android phone? The Android OS "for the most part" does not paint you into a corner like Apple does. The fact of the matter is this is just Apple's MO, they are a software company and they use there hardware to shoehorn you into it. Is that always bad? No. I think it makes for a more immerse & clean experience. But, for that you pay a price. You pay a premium monetary price & and you pay the price of not having a lot of options because it does not matter what you want to do with your Apple product if Apple does not support it. And you better be damn sure they are going to keep it that way.

I have used the IPhone and I think it's nice but, I don't like be shoe horned into a inferior AT&T network. Verizon's coverage is far superior to AT&T nation wide and in my corner of North East Ohio.

I can apreciate that. I guess I just find that I can do whatever I want to do on my apple products so I don't notice the restrictions as much. But that says more about me as a category of user than the product its self. The iPad is going to feel pretty restrictive if all my fav website are flash based but pretty awesome if your into reading and can now carry arround your digital library with you. I guess it's ultimatly the needs of the user that define the openness of the platform.

For me, if all the iPad did was browse the web and take plain text notes, I would still love it.

I've been using LogMeIn Ignition on the iPad for a few weeks and love it. I can pull out the iPad, turn it on, connect to a site, and start working in about the same time it takes for the XP logo to appear when booting my laptop.

Checkout Ozone HD. Decent game and the price is right. If you have come across anything good, please let me know.

I've started accumulating PDF's and videos. Looking for some way to organize them into nested subfolders, any ideas? I know 'there is an app for that', but can't find anything. That or I'm missing something simple to get the included apps to do it.
