information are always posted at this page.
My current contract is through June 7, so I could be available to
start a new position June 8. There is a possibility I could be
available earlier, perhaps even May 1, due to changes that are
occurring at my current client site.
I prefer to work as a 1099 contractor. My geographic preference is
the Cleveland/Akron, Ohio area, but I will consider other locations as
well.
Do not submit this resume to any potential client without my express
consent.
Thank you for reading this far.......

Caliber Technology, 557 Tallmadge Avenue, Akron, OH 44310
December 1997-present
· Caliber, a division of Federal Express, provides on-site I.T.
support services for Roadway Express, Inc., a trucking and transport
company located in Akron, Ohio. As part of Caliber staff, served as
DBA in support of Roadway’s MVS DB2 applications.
· Performed database management tasks including create, alter, and
drop of databases, tablespaces, tables, indexes, and views. Also
prepared jobs to perform imagecopies, loads, unloads, reorganizations,
recoveries, runstats, and rebinds.
· Using QMF Batch, developed an automated daily report showing current
disk pack utilization in order to identify potential storage problems
before they occur. Disk pack space errors which had been occurring
nearly every week were almost completely eliminated.
· Wrote a document of DB2 tips and frequently asked questions for the
DB2 programmers, to enable them to quickly identify and solve problems
within their applications.
· Converted approximately 150 tables to use IBM DB2 Compression
instead of BMC Data Packer, saving $15,000 annually in maintenance
fees.
· Converted over 400 indexes from Type 1 to Type 2 in order to improve
performance and enable row-level locking.

· Analyzed, designed, and developed mainframe-based components of an
Internet application to allow borrowers, lenders, and schools to use a
web browser to view loan and other information. Web server initiates
a CICS transaction to retrieve the data from DB2 tables and pass back
to the server, which then formats the data into HTML and displays in
the browser. The server also initiates CICS transactions to log user
access and generate letters to the borrower. Mainframe components
implemented using COBOL II, CICS, DB2, and VSAM files.
· Consistently completed assigned tasks ahead of schedule, allowing me
to assist others in completing their tasks or to begin work on
subsequent phases of the project.
Systems Consultant

· Played a major role in the re-engineering of a financial proposal
application from a host-based application to a client/server
architecture. Revised application has a GUI front-end written in
VisualGen that executes on an OS/2 platform. GUI uses CICS Client for
OS/2 to send CICS transactions to the MVS host, where the application
data resides in DB2 and IMS databases. GUI application also accesses a
number of OS/2 DLLs that are resident on the workstation. Wrote a
general CICS PL/I program to allow VisualGen to access the MVS host
through simple API calls, while also setting up default abend handling
routines. Wrote the VG-to-CICS API design guide. Sized, designed,
coded, and tested the majority of the CICS PL/I APIs. Determined the
Linkage Table entries necessary to allow VisualGen to access the host
as well as the entries necessary to call DLLs written in PL/I for
OS/2. Determined which datatypes in VisualGen match the datatypes in
PL/I. Worked on the team that designed the user interface, and worked
with customer to ensure application met all business requirements.
Established procedures for porting non-CICS MVS PL/I code (for
example, field edit and date conversion logic) to the OS/2 workstation
and compiling into DLLs.
· Responsible for analysis and coding in a large-scale financial
processing system. Applications generate billing information for
customer purchase or lease of IBM mainframe and personal computer
systems. The system is coded in PL/I in an MVS environment, using IMS
and DB2 databases and CICS transaction processing.
· Served as a DB2 DBA during absence/vacation of regular DBA.
· Analyzed, designed, and developed test problem tracking and change
request tracking applications using Lotus Notes. Test problem tracking
application allows testing personnel to enter documents describing
problems encountered during function and system testing. Documents are
automatically routed to developers for resolution. Application also
includes five reports for tracking current testing status. The
application has been used as the site's model for similar
applications.
· Re-engineered document printing capability. Original print function
was archaic and unwieldy, requiring abnormally long coding and testing
windows. New function was written to support search-and-replace
capability for variable data. Time from user request for change to
availability in production system reduced from weeks to days.
· Analyzed, designed, and developed document bar code facility and
automated document faxing facility. Determined user requirements,
investigated alternatives to meet the requirements, and implemented
the solution. Bar codes added to existing documents so that
information can be quickly scanned, reducing manual input. Also, fax
facility allows users to fax documents from CICS MVS to end customer,
eliminating need to manually print, then fax documents.
· Developed new process to reconcile expected purchase/lease financial
output with actual output. Process also eliminated duplicate coding
throughout system and significantly enhanced maintainability of code.
Project Leader/Systems Analyst/Testing Analyst
AT&T, 2355 Dulles Corner Blvd., Herndon, VA 22071 April
1992-June 1993
· Led new functional test team that was responsible for testing phone
company billing application against logical specifications. As project
leader, activities included: definition of goals for project team,
planning of resource requirements, interviews of job candidates,
scheduling of resources and tasks, development of test plans and test
cases, and development of processes and procedures to ensure optimal
testing and trouble tracking. The system is coded in COBOL and COBOL
II in an MVS environment, using IMS and DB2 databases and CICS
transaction processing.
· Developed logical specifications for enhancements to the billing
application, using ADW CASE tool. Enhancements included addition of
taxing process and new interfaces between subsystems. Identified
inconsistencies in and recommended changes to current taxing business
procedures.
Project Leader/Senior Systems Analyst
Du Pont Company, Nemours Building, Wilmington, DE 19898 July
1987-April 1992
· Responsible for implementing corporate order processing system in
Taiwan and later Singapore. Functionality of system included order
entry, invoicing, inventory control/warehousing, shipping, pricing,
and sales reporting. The system is coded in PL/I in an MVS
environment, using IMS and DB2 databases and IMS DC transaction
processing. Successful implementation eliminated duplicate systems
and reduced costs to the company. Activities included analysis of
computing needs of subsidiaries, development of specifications for
required software upgrades to system, identification of hardware
requirements and follow-up of requisitions, data analysis, and user
training.
· Spent four months in Taiwan as part of project; other international
experience includes Singapore, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and Thailand.
Received award for skills exhibited and contributions made during
implementation phase.
· Led project team that analyzed, designed, coded, and implemented
multi-currency enhancements without which the domestic order
processing system could not have been used by international
subsidiaries. Project team was recognized by management for positive
contributions to success of international project.
· Received highest possible rating in each annual review.
