Princ Database Administrator
Responsibilities
• Performing daily maintenance including backing up and optimizing
databases; • Automation of MS SQL Server maintenance and alerting; •
Monitoring failed and long running MS SQL Server jobs; • Reviewing
code for deployment at a high level to determine risk for production
deployment; • Working with the development and QA team to optimize
application performance; and to rollout new software • Maintaining
database performance by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing
database performance and trends; • Utilizing a problem management tool
to track open tickets and follow up to resolution and closure; •
Executing special projects or other related duties as required; •
Handling complex database administrative features and technical
design; • Monitoring and management of externally facing production
SQL Server Reporting services (SSRS)
Qualifications
• 5+ years experience working as an applications database
administrator on MS SQL Server 2000 or 2005 supporting multiple
production servers in a fast paced environment; • Bachelors degree in
Computer Science or related area of study or relevant work experience;
• Strong understanding of major components of MS SQL Server
architecture including proven experience in database backup, restore
and recovery, clustering, and replication procedures; • SQL Server
performance tuning and query optimization experience ; programing to
include developing & testing T-SQL stored procedures & queries; •
Database modeling, normalization concepts; • Proven command of
monitoring mission critical production DB servers and business
processes and background in 24 x 7 production on call support •
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; • Team spirit and
client communication skills; • Able to learn and master new technology
quickly and improve personal performance through continual self-study;
• Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously;
