UPDATED ON:  Nov 26, 2012

Dear fellow human-rights advocates, community organizers and environmentalists:

Our concerns for jobs, educational opportunity, healthcare, human rights, civil rights and for the  environment can only be expressed through

effective organizing .... facilitated by effective, independent media access.

You will have a chance to expand your access to an independent, listener-based radio

Station, that is, KPFT (Pacifica) Radio, which is  90.1fm on your radio dial tomorrow, on Nov 27, 2012... between 9 AM to 10 AM.

Your participation in the individual, interactive “Open Journal” programs is VERY IMPORTANT

YOU STILL HAVE A CHANCE TO CALL IN YOUR QUESTIONS, CONCERNS, AND IDEAS TO KPFT-LSB

(LOCAL RADIO STATION BOARD) CANDIDATES WHILE THEY DISCUSS THEIR "VISION" AND THEIR PROPOSALS TO KEEP

KPFT-PACIFICA-RADIO ON THE AIR.  YOUR INPUT AND IDEAS ARE NEEDED.

The LSB candidates written statements have already been posted on the KPFT.org and Pacifica.org websites.

Thank you.

P.S.  Attachments below include more information about the "OccupyKPFT" candidates for KPFT's local station board: (more info at: <www.OccupyKPFT.org>

I,  MariaElena Castellanos, am a candidate with a vision and a plan for the KPFT-LSB.  More importantly, I am running as a member of a multi-racial team of LSB candidates.   Our team’s vision, plan and proposals require your input.  You can find the websites for our youtube videos and specific times for our individual “Open Journal” radio programs (which began on Nov 16, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. and will continue through Nov 27, 2012).

I, along with other candidates for the LSB (Local Station Board) of KPFT, are making a concerted effort to save KPFT by developing a vision and a plan to reach larger, more diverse, younger radio audiences.  KPFT is in dire straits.  It’s mission and finances are “on the ropes.”  Its membership is shrinking.

We need your #1 vote AND your input to turn around KPFT.  We can save its “mission”  to be a radio for peace by expanding its “vision” of how to be a radio for justice.

Please tune in, take part, and then cast an informed vote for the KPFT-Local-Station-Board candidates of your choice.

Thank you.

Brief text by M.E. Castellanos on youtube:

            Published on Oct 10, 2012

“What do I propose?

“Take KPFT microphones to the streets! Take KPFT to the people! Bridge the

language, cultural, music and news-gaps for those communities most

belittled, stereotyped and ignored by mainstream media. The most

dispossessed communities will fight to save KPFT! If KPFT will mobilize its

devoted 6,700 members, volunteers and programmers to fight for the most

dispossessed of the 99%.

Who will fight to save KPFT from financial ruin?

The same younger, diverse communities of citizens and immigrants

who are fighting for jobs, a "green" renewable-energy-based

economy, and for healthcare, education, a demilitarized national budget  and

for social justice.

“What to do?

Clarify KPFT's vision. Make a plan

KPFT must develop its cyber-based, interactive live-streaming, HD channels,

blogs, online fund-raising, internet social media and remote-site

broadcasting in real-time in order to engage and connect emerging

communities-in-struggle. “
