I've been reading your posts all season long and know the season is soon to end.   I hope you guys post a summary of your finds or otherwise, it would be like losing a good mystery book just before you get to the end!

Cheers!

Hello all,
Just thought I'd update you all on the big year. I'm up to 101 species with about 2-3 more possible but not likely.  My biggest misses so far are harvester, leonard's skipper(too lazy to drive to Toledo for one species) and gray comma.  If anyone is seeing cloudless or dainty sulphers or sleepy oranges, I'd love to know about them!  It's been a good year, even though butterfly numbers were way down early in the summer.
Troy

I think I am up to 108 species, but of course, that includes a trip west.  Troy, I saw Sleepy down at Hope Furnace probably three weeks ago.  Am still hopeful for Leonards Skipper if anyone knows of a location (closer to se Ohio than Toledo!).  My biggest disappointment in Ohio was Little Yellow.  Next weekend I may buzz down to Zaleski, maybe they are still around.  Biggest disappointment out west was Tiny Checkerspot (although equally disappointing was not getting pics of Arizona SIster and Two-tailed Swallowtail.

Seeing as how I am in book writing mode now (finished first novel in March, and second should be available next month), I will probably turn my attempt at a Big Butterfly Year into a book (and accompanying photo CD) as well.  Don't know about Troy and Linda, but my BBY ended up going so far beyond just butterflies.  So many other things, so many stories, happened during my attempt to find butterflies!

If you are really interested and feel like driving, there are still leonards and little sulphurs flying together, same habitat, at Moseley Barrens, KItty Todd - Toledo again.  I've had 2 sulphurs each week and several leonards since mid-August.  Don't wait long to decide because both will be gone soon.

Thanks Troy & Chris for posting your near-end results.  I know I"ve been wondering what your numbers are.  Linda says she's at 100.  W/out driving like a maniac around the state, I"ve managed 72 and still have a shot at painted lady, variegated frit, sb frit, sachem and any migrant sulphur.

Cheers!  Jackie
