Market research Procurement /Purchasing and Supply planning is very
central to sound procurement/Purchasing and Supply planning and it
is mandatory that it shall be addressed by the whole Procurement/
Purchasing and Supply management Team and not the Procurement
Officer or Procurement professional alone or any other member of the
team or any Procurement Sector Specialist alone. Market research is
responsible for the identification of the products (Goods, Works and
Non- Consultant Services) or services that are available to satisfy a
requirement, determine whether the minimum requirements are
practical/realistic, identify proper sources and availability to
furnish the required products (Goods, Works and Non-Consultant
Services) or services, assist in determining how to appropriately
describe the requirements; and indicate whether cost estimates and
schedules are realistic.
