Hi Rosa,

I was wondering when the October meeting are taking place, and where.

Also, I'd like to complain about the poop in the park. The Hahamonga Watershed park is infested with the solid remains of our canine friends. A problem especially important since dog feces contain bacteria that have serious health consequences if left unattended. (http://www.usatoday.com/news/science/2002-06-07-dog-usat.htm). The watershed park has many ponds dedicated to rejuvenate our underground water drinking supply, and we should make special care that dog owners understand the dire need for good hygiene.

I confronted one of the dog owners and he's attitude was. It's okay to let the dog sh*t in the Disc Golf Course and trails, but it wasn't okay for the dogs to do their business on the soccer field. I fear this attitude causes friction between the golf players and the dog walkers, and is a serious health problem for both disc golfer and dog walkers alike. Is there a way  we can put signs up, telling people that it's not okay or lawful to leave dog remains on the trails or anywhere in the park? Thanks.

Take care,
Howard

Hi y'all.

We'll see if these waste stations are installed. Let me know if any of you can think of any other problems of concern.

Take care,
Howard

Thanks for your reply, and attachment. I will be looking forward in seeing those waste station installed. If you'd like I can help in placing those stations. I've been coming to the park for over 5 years almost daily and have intimate knowledge of the park and trails.

Take care,
Howard

Hi Howard:
Thanks for your email.  I've made the Crew Supervisor for that area aware of your observations and have asked that he pay closer attention to the dog waste in Hahamongna.  I'll review the current locations of the signs and dog waste stations with the Crew Supervisor in an effort to determine if more are necessary.  Thanks again for bringing this issue to our attention.

I haven't sent a notice yet, but the next meeting of the HWP Advisory committee will be Tuesday, October 28th at 6pm at La Casita del Arroyo again.  Meetings will be posted on our city website this week, but generally will fall on the 4 Tuesday of every other month (even numbered months), unless otherwise notified.

I have passed your message about the maintenance of the dog waste on to the acting park maintenance supervisor, Charles Peretz.  Thanks for your comments.  We have installed dog waste stations with the attached signs at various locations in the arroyo….Charles may consider more of these for the park, although I think a couple of them have been installed.  I'm sure he will follow up.  Thanks again, Howard and hope to see you later this month, if not before.

Regards,
