Hardware Q's

I know its not unreasonable to exchange the HD for a bigger or faster
one, but what about the DVD, more RAM, or even a faster processor? Or
does this make it too PC like, eg you need an open game console with X
memory, which is more then the default, or X processor which is faster
then the default... I dont wana go that route, just want to know how
locked in we are.... I want a game that 'just works' not one that
needs X hardware, even if I do decide I want a faster X Y or Z....
Assuming ofcourse a person could upgrade their own hardware without
compatability problems... (I'm assuming they would all have to be the
same type...)
