Does anyone know how not to have Vegas auto-scale a small video in a large timeline

1. I can't figure out how to turn off auto-scaling
pix 1:  I have a 1920x1080 image into a 4096x2048 timeline
I get a scaled to fit and cropped relative to timeline size  input to my effect -  is there a trick to get the 1080P video not be rescaled when using Video Event FX,
I understand with Media FX I get the source 1920x1080 but is there a way to get the 1080P unscaled in a larger timeline (even with no FX applied)

2.  Maybe it's us but I set to maintain image aspect ratio but that seems to offset built in display of point positionners right ?
If I turn off maintain ratio the positionner stays at the same place.

Vegas conforms all input media to Project size. The effect chain is: Media FX, pre-crop Event FX, Pan/Crop+conform, post-crop Event FX (default for Events), pre-compositing Track FX (default for Tracks), track compositing, post-composite Track FX, and finally Project FX. Media FX and pre-crop Event FX run at media resolution, everything after that runs at project resolution. The pre-crop Event FX and post-composite Track FX can be set by dragging the position of the Pan/Crop element or Composite element in the effect chain view.

You can emulate not conforming to project resolution by using Track Motion (hamburger menu or button if you have it visible), and set Width and Height to match your source video. This does end up scaling the video up and then back down, so it can soften the look. An alternate solution is to use Event Pan/Crop to change the conform operation to include enough extra image size that so it becomes a 1:1 non-scale. To do this, use Pan/Crop (button or menu), and then set Width and Height to the project size. This won't soften the image as much (maybe not at all), but does require thinking about the image size math in an inverse way.

Gary did a nice video on the 4 effect locations: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vmlHM75ghLI

Success (pix below), thank you - that was hard :)

1. In Media FX it's clip size in and out - OK, then Event Pan/Crop allows to maintain source resolution  (not 100% clear yet what center is then, seem to stay in source size dimension) then by the time you arrive to Video Event FX you get a small image in a large buffer. I am also not clear about your second item,  pre-crop Event FX, - this seems to be related to a large image in a small project, for that I guess it needs to run in Media FX and the project size is the target "render" window out (assuming we neutered spatial confom).
2. This process has similar issue as Resolve Edit page (also a complicated workaround to avoid spatial conform), software loses where the source video edges are. Theorically plugin could parameterize width and height and ask users to type in source width and height but as per my other thread, this should be something we can query from API as host knows. .
e.g. if one had a plugin importing stabilization data for example they would need to know the actual source size.
3. Also about anti spatial conform, I understand software gets developed incrementally and things end up the way they are.  but would be nice if there was in clip properties - [x]  Maintain Source Resolution that does it for you
