Hi

Let´s make a review of the meetings, December 2013 and January 2014.

Doug = 17 attendees                                                    /                             Rick = 10 attendees

With Doug we talked about FoxUnit, a pretty good tool.

FoxUnit is useful to find bugs, adding or changing functionalities, refactoring.

FoxUnit is easy to implement, available for future use, anyone can run it and it runs quickly.

With Rick we talked about VFPx

VFPx is a very dynamic set of tools.

                FoxBar Code QR

                Thor & Thor Repository

                Finder

                FoxCharts

Doug spoke loud and clear / Rick wanted to show a lot in a few minutes.

The meetings weren’t prepared for the WEB online format, were an adoption of an in place live format.

The global result is good.

The stat that interests me is:

Questions asked in both meetings by someone other than Me: 0

Presenters have said that OFUG is like presenting to a black hole. If we keep taking what the presenters are offering without giving anything back ourselves, I imagine we will eventually have difficulty getting presenters. Which is pretty much the problem most user groups have.

I'm open to ideas on how to get more participation.

(BTW - Client problem solved this morning with a literally 30 second phone call. Dozens of emails, threats of lawsuits, and souring the relation - all over a 30 second question which I answered with a simple "yes".)

Having presented to OFUG a couple of times, I can certainly say that the experience is quite unsatisfying because of the lack of feedback.

The problem occurs, I think, primarily because of the problem with un-muted mics.  The presenter ends up having to mute everybody, which means that, unlike a normal conversation or what occurs in a presentation in person, it is not a natural process to get the presenter's attention to ask a question.

The result, I think, is that the there is not really much of an opportunity to alter the presentation to fit the interests of those watching live.

I offer no solution here, but it does make me less than enthusiastic about volunteering to present again.
