More hiatus than dead, hopefully.
The problem, of course, is wrangling speakers. The speakers tend to be the usual group of speakers. Asking them to do another presentation to OFUG is asking a lot of them.
I talked with organizers of a couple different user groups while at SWFox. My thought was that OFUG could piggy-back on their user groups - thus we don't ask a speaker to present to just OFUG and we help bring some members to their group. So one month OFUG might be joining the Chicago User Group, the next month we're joining the Philly user group, etc.
That idea got a lukewarm reception from the existing user groups. They understandably fear that an online group tagging along might stop people from coming to their group that month and that, essentially, we're piggy backing for free on their group (letting them do the work of finding a speaker) without bringing much added value and making them do the work of connecting up with us.
Once I can figure out those items, OFUG could get rolling again. If anybody has thoughts, fire away.
