Its a busy time of planning, building and doing in Oakland! Now is the time to make a difference.

Mark your calendar and join OFPC on June 9th at the City Council's Community Economic Development Committee meeting to share your support for 1. Expanding Priority Conservation Areas to ensure food security; 2. Ensuring a community advisory group is a part of defining and determining priority funding for these expanded areas; and 3. social equity is supported as a critical lens to use in evaluating funding priorities. Where: City Hall, 1 Frank Ogawa Plaza, Council Chambers

OFPC serves as a partner with The California Endowment initiative, East Oakland Building Healthy Communities (EOBHC). As a partner we work on Oakland planning issues and food access. We have been a part of an important project called the Healthy Development Guidelines to orient development in Oakland to serve the community! We invite you to join Oakland's Community Planning Leaders to develop a model for neighborhood and resident decision-making for future development projects. Your feedback and participation is wanted! 

What: A discussion on models for community development hosted by Causa Justa: Just Cause

When: Wednesday, May 13th, 2015, 5:30PM-6:45PM

Where: Eastside Arts Alliance at 2277 International Blvd, Oakland, CA. 

OFPC believes that effective policy and programs are created through community participation and encourage a community organizing approach in our work. We invite you to learn more about community organizing. Up for a trek to SF? On May 13th you can receive a free workshop on Organizing 101- How to Structure Your Community Group for Success! (hosted by San francisco Urban Agriculture Alliance)

Where: Mission Playground Clubhouse at 19th Street and Linda Street, San Francisco, CA 

OFPC is a strong ally with the HOPE Collaborative! They are currently seeking members for their steering committee. The HOPE Collaborative is a group of public agencies, organizations, and Oakland residents working together to create community driven and sustainable environmental changes in our local food system and built environment that will significantly improve the health and wellness of East and West Oakland residents most impacted by social inequities. If you are interested, please apply by May 16th by completing an ONLINE APPLICATION. 

OFPC encourages you to be heard!! Mayor Schaaf issued a proposed budget on April 30th 2015. There is still lots of time to influence the final budget decisions that the city council will make on June 30th.
