Dear Oakland Food Policy Council Supporters:

OFPC has been working in partnership with the city of Oakland since 2011 to expand regions of operation for mobile food vendors, to reduce costs, and to streamline the permitting process. To support this process, the city of Oakland is hosting a series of community sessions with the public. Make your voice heard! Join us there! Can't make it? City Hosted Community Workshops:

Tuesday, August 25, 5:30-7:30 p.m.  Fruitvale-San Antonio Senior Center, Multi-Purpose Room; 3301 E. 12th Street (at Fruitvale Transit Village).  Spanish interpretation will be available

Wednesday, August 26, 3:30-6:30 p.m.  Lincoln Square Recreation Center, gymnasium.  250 10th Street.  Cantonese interpretation will be available
Tuesday, September 1,  5:30-7:30 p.m.  West Oakland Senior Center, 1724 Adeline Street, community room
Thursday, September 3,  5:30-7:30 p.m.  Oakland Public Library, 81st Avenue Branch, 1021 81st Avenue.  2nd floor

Oakland is home to many informal food businesses that are inventive, inspirational and down right delicious. These businesses are examples of the creative power of utilizing resources immediately available to you. We benefit from the nimble styles of business that folks have generated to reduce costs and maximize where they operate. We see that hard to understand, out of date, strict and expensive requirements present barriers to being able to own a business when you have low capital.
