Dear OFPC Supporters,
I have loved my time at Oakland Food Policy Council (OFPC). I want all you, my wonderful colleagues, partners and community members to know what an honor it is for me to know you, work with you and be a part of critical work to transform our food system. We have collectively made OFPC a leader in the food movement. It is therefore with deep respect for my council, fondness for our work, our struggle and many allies, and a sense of optimism for the future that I step down as Council Director.
I am comforted to know that we have a truly amazing group of people sharing power and impact and I know OFPC will be transitioned into capable hands!
I leave to embark on a more personal journey to Mexico for intensive study in Spanish. My basic level of fluency is not honed as I’d like to communicate more effectively with my Spanish speaking community. I am anticipating the need for a higher level of Spanish fluency in the next iteration of my work. I also embrace the rare opportunity to spend time in my country of family origin.
Though my next steps are exciting, I will miss being a part of OFPC. But who knows what the future holds?
With deep respect,
Esperanza Pallana
