Hello,

I want to thank you again for attending last Wednesday's candidate forum, "Food in the 18th: A Candidate Forum." Below are some additional resources we would like to share with you on voting in both the Assembly District 18 Special Election and the Recall Election.

Special General Election

Special elections are notoriously low-turnout events. Only 20% of voters turned out last month for the AD-18 primary. Please vote, spread the word and encourage your friends, family and co-workers to cast their ballot before August 31st!

If you received your ballot in the mail you can either

  1. Return your ballot by mail (no postage necessary) or

  1. Drop it off at a drop-box near you, to find your nearest drop-box visit- https://www.acgov.org/rovapps/maps/avl/

Ballots should be postmarked on or before election day and received by the registrar’s office no later than September 7th.

If you didn’t receive a ballot in the mail, or you’d rather vote in-person you can vote at one of the three voting locations in the district. These locations will be open 4 days before the election, starting Saturday, August 28th at 9 a.m.

Recall Election

The statewide recall election is on September 14th. However, you don’t have to wait to vote! The Registrar of Voters began mailing ballots to all registered voters for this election on Monday August 16th.

On your recall ballot you’ll be given a choice to vote either YES or NO on the question of whether to remove the governor from office. If more than 50% of the voters vote YES to recall the governor, then the replacement candidate with the most votes is elected to fill the rest of the term for the governor through 2023.

August 30th is the deadline to register to vote or change your address for the recall election, and you will have three options to cast your ballot:

  1. Return your ballot by mail (no postage necessary)

  1. Drop it off at a drop-box near you, to find your nearest drop-box visit- https://www.acgov.org/rovapps/maps/ballotdropbox_map.htm?electionid=245

  1. In-person at any voting location starting Saturday, September 11th at 9 a.m., to find your polling location visit- https://www.acgov.org/rov_app/pollinglist

Please encourage everyone you know to vote in both of these critical elections and thanks again for joining us for Food in the 18th!
