Dear OWLA Colleagues,

I hope you’ve enjoyed an enjoyable and rejuvenating summer!! It doesn’t seem possible that the new school year is just around the corner!

For those of you teaching AP courses, the headline I’m sharing today is probably not new news. But it is one worth sharing with the entire field. The College Board, which administers AP Exams, is introducing a major change to the AP World Language and Culture Exams this fall. A project component accounting for 35% of exam takers’ total scores will be added. To read about this change in detail – and the alterations that may need to be made to prepare students in world language programs culminating in AP testing, read the Language Magazine article featured in a recent ACTFL SmartBrief.

I’m wishing everyone an enjoyable end to your summer breaks and a phenomenal 2026-2027 academic year!

Many warm regards,
