Spanish Immersion Day at Wright State, 10/27

We are writing to invite you and your students to participate in our annual Spanish Language Immersion Program, ¡Al ritmo del Caribe!

Designed for advanced high school Spanish students (Spanish III and above), the program will take place from arrival time (9:00 am-9:30 am) to 1:15 pm on Tuesday, October 27, in the Student Union at Wright State University.
 
Participants pledge to speak only Spanish during those hours, in which there will be a variety of activities centered around the theme of ¡Al ritmo del Caribe! such as:

·         Ceremonia de bienvenida

·         Sesiones interactivas

·         Almuerzo / Música / Sorteo

·         Baile

As always, we aim for this to be a fun, low-stress event. Our goal is to encourage your students to continue with Spanish and to give you an enjoyable day of professional development. We offer a lunch bag for teachers, along with CEU certificates for teacher participation.

ELIGIBILITY: To participate in the program, students must be in third level or above of high school Spanish and be willing to speak only Spanish during the program.

COST TO STUDENTS: $25 per student (includes registration fee, activities, lunch, raffle, and WSU drawstring cinch-up backpack). Credit card payment (individual or group payment made by the teacher with the HS credit card on our payment site) is preferred. If that is not possible, please call us to arrange another form oy payment.

COST TO TEACHERS: No Charge to participating teachers or Spanish-speaking parent chaperones. Teachers receive pedagogical material and CEU’s free of charge.

PARTICIPATION LIMITED TO THE FIRST 250 STUDENTS! To tentatively reserve your place, please e-mail Ksenia (xenia...@wright.edu) ASAP your intent to participate and send in an approximate estimate of participants based on class response. Have your students apply on the portal as early as possible. Only portal registration/payment in full will confirm students & teachers’ participation.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, October 2nd is the deadline for completed applications and payment in full.
