Dear OWLA Asian Language Educators,

Please see the message below from the East Asian Study Center at The Ohio State University announcing a panel discussion titled “Challenges and Opportunities in High School East Asian Language Education: A Roundtable Discussion.” This event is part of the larger American Association for Teachers of Korean annual conference that will be held on June 19 in Hagerty Hall on the OSU campus. Educators of Korean and other Asian languages are welcome and encouraged to participate. Note that attendees of the roundtable will receive free one-day admission to the conference and also can attend other panels that day (June 19 only). As you look forward to the summer, we hope you can attend an upcoming panel on June 19, “Challenges and Opportunities in High School East Asian Language Education: A Roundtable Discussion” held in conjunction with the annual conference for the American Association for Teachers of Korean (AATK). Required one-day registration is free using the roundtable link. Feel free to forward to anyone you think might be interested.

  • 1-2:30pm (in person)
  • Place: The Ohio State University campus, Hagerty Hall
  • Cost: Free – Use Roundtable registration only
  • Benefits: Free admission to AATK conference on June 19 (only), breakfast, lunch, parking voucher

K-12 teachers, university instructors, and language students are invited to attend a roundtable discussion on teaching East Asian languages in high schools. Invited panelists include K-12 teachers, faculty from Ohio State, and pre-service teachers. Audience discussion of issues and ideas related to teaching Chinese, Japanese, and Korean will be explored during this interactive roundtable. This event is part of the American Association for Teachers of Korean (AATK) annual conference. Attendees of the roundtable will receive free one-day admission to the conference (and can attend other panels) on June 19 (only) using the roundtable link only, as well as breakfast, lunch, and a parking voucher.
