March Music Madness: Resources for French, German and Spanish
Hello!
Have you heard of March Music Madness from SpanishPlans.org, or Locura de Marzo from senorashby.com, or Manie Musicale? They all function like a NCAA Tournament bracket but with authentic Spanish or French songs! The links provided above include written instructions or video tutorials, music videos, and a bracket template.
If you are interested in Manie Musicale, it is explained in its entirety on the News Center Maine website.
Unfortunately, my search for a German March Music Madness only turned up one resource. It’s from the German Sektor Blogspot in 2019.
This year I am going to give the Spanish a try! From what I’ve read on the FAQs about March Music Madness, and what my colleagues tell me about Locura de Marzo, this is a fun way to implement some of Ohio's Learning Standards for World Languages and Cultures (revised March 2020).
If you are interested in learning more about March Music Madness 2021 (MMM21), I’d start by reading the FAQs and previewing the songs before using them in class. I tend to err on the side of caution. One of the questions in the FAQs is, “Are these songs appropriate?” The response to that question is:
The songs have been screened for their appropriateness for a school setting. That being said, you should preview the song before to make sure it is appropriate for your particular school setting. All videos should be appropriate for most school settings, however, you will want to screen any videos before showing them in your classroom.
If you are interested in learning more about Locura de Marzo, I’d read How it Works 2021. There are video explanations too!
Remember to preview content before sharing it with your class! Have fun and let us know how it goes!
Sincerely,
2020-2021 OFLA Technology Integration Committee
