Each action is known as an event. Each event has a name, like User Registered, and properties. For example, a User Registered event might have properties like plan or accountType. Calling Track in one of our sources is one of the first steps to getting started with Segment.

Note: In our browser and mobile libraries a User ID is automatically added from the state stored by a previous identify call, so you do not need to add it yourself. They will also automatically handle Anonymous IDs under the covers.

Segment has standardized a series of reserved event names that have special semantic meaning. We map these events to tools that support them whenever possible. See the Semantic Events docs for more detail.

Properties are extra pieces of information you can tie to events you track. They can be anything that will be useful while analyzing the events later. Segment recommends sending properties whenever possible because they give you a more complete picture of what your users are doing.

Segment has reserved some properties that have semantic meanings, and handle them in special ways. For example, we always expect revenue to be a dollar amount that we send to tools that handle revenue tracking.

The HTML element is used as a child of the media elements, and . Each track element lets you specify a timed text track (or time-based data) that can be displayed in parallel with the media element, for example to overlay subtitles or closed captions on top of a video or alongside audio tracks.

Multiple tracks can be specified for a media element, containing different kinds of timed text data, or timed text data that has been translated for different locales. The data that is used will either be the track that has been set to be the default, or a kind and translation based on user preferences.

The type of data that track adds to the media is set in the kind attribute, which can take values of subtitles, captions, chapters or metadata. The element points to a source file containing timed text that the browser exposes when the user requests additional data.

The underlying TextTrack, indicated by the track property, receives a cuechange event every time the currently-presented cue is changed. This happens even if the track isn't associated with a media element.

The JavaScript interface that represents the element is HTMLTrackElement. The text track associated with an element can be obtained from the HTMLTrackElement.track property, and is of type TextTrack.

TextTrack objects also can be added to a HTMLVideoElement or HTMLAudioElement elements using the HTMLMediaElement.addTrack() method. The TextTrack objects associated with a media element stored in a TextTrackList, which can be retrieved using the HTMLMediaElement.textTracks property.

Athletics (or track and field in the United States) is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills.[1] The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Track and field is categorized under the umbrella sport of athletics, which also includes road running, cross country running and racewalking. In British English the term "Athletics" is synonymous with American "Track and Field" and includes all jumping events. In all countries other than the United States, Athletics is the official term for this sport with 'track' and 'field' events being subgroups of athletics events. In the United States, the term 'athletics' is often used in place of the umbrella term 'sport'.

The foot racing events, which include sprints, middle- and long-distance events, racewalking, and hurdling, are won by the athlete who completes it in the least time. The jumping and throwing events are won by those who achieve the greatest distance or height. Regular jumping events include long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault, while the most common throwing events are shot put, javelin, discus, and hammer. There are also "combined events" or "multi events", such as the pentathlon consisting of five events, heptathlon consisting of seven events, and decathlon consisting of ten events. In these, athletes participate in a combination of track and field events. Most track and field events are individual sports with a single victor; the most prominent team events are relay races, which typically feature teams of four. Events are almost exclusively divided by gender, although both the men's and women's competitions are usually held at the same venue. Recently, "mixed" relay events have been introduced into meets, whereby two men and two women make up the four-person team. If a race has too many people to run all at once, preliminary heats will be run to narrow down the field of participants.

Athletics is one of the oldest sports. In ancient times, it was an event held in conjunction with festivals and sports meets such as the Ancient Olympic Games in Greece. In modern times, the two most prestigious international track and field competitions are the athletics competition at the Olympic Games and the World Athletics Championships. World Athletics, formerly known as the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), is the international governing body for the sport of athletics.

Records are kept of the best performances in specific events, at world, continental, and national levels. However, if athletes are deemed to have violated the event's rules or regulations, they are disqualified from the competition and their marks are erased.

Athletic events were also present at the Panhellenic Games in Greece around this period, and they spread to Rome in Italy around 201 BC.[6][7] In the Middle Ages, new track and field events began developing in parts of Northern Europe. The stone put and weight throw competitions popular among Celtic societies in Ireland and Scotland were precursors to the modern shot put and hammer throw events. One of the last track and field events to develop was the pole vault, which stemmed from competitions such as fierljeppen in North European Lowlands in the 18th century.
