Rollerskaters now have their very own spot to hang out, glide across the grounds, try their hands at something new or perhaps just indulge in the retro disco vibes. RollDXB, the first disco roller rink in Dubai, is the spot to be for novices and veterans alike.

The idea was first conceived by two Emirati women, sisters Aliyah Al Banna and her elder sister, who had a love for roller skating. The elder of the two had the idea first in 2016, fueled by her and her sister's passion for figure skating and roller skating.

While the joint only has one permanent physical location currently, located at Dubai Maritime City, RollDXB has had multiple pop-ups all over Dubai in the past and will continue to have in the future. For more updates, keep an eye on their Instagram page below.

The roller skate rink has a range of packages, from renting out the entire space for a private event to dropping by for a ladies-only skate session. The prices for each of these packages differ, and visitors are advised to go through the list of all packages before visiting the rink and book in advance to ensure the rink is available.

An open skate session can be best defined as a group skating session. The Roller Disco Experience is open to all visitors. The spot provides skaters with rental pads, skates and helmets, but they are also free to bring their own and can access the rink at a reduced cost.

Riedell Shoes Inc. is a Minnesota-based skate manufacturing company that produces skates. The company has been in business since the late 60s and continues to be the go-to for most beginners looking for affordable yet stylish and good-quality skates.

The Moxi brand was founded by Estro Jen in the early 2000s. These are the more colourful and experimental counterparts of the former skates and are also manufactured by Riedell. The Moxi and Riedell roller skates start off at AED 800 onwards and can be purchased from the RollDXB store or other stores in the region.

Every Wednesday, RollDXB books out their venues exclusively for ladies. Giving women the opportunity to skate with the utmost level of comfort. Furthermore, all staff that are present at the venue on the lady's night are women, and the location has a strict no photos and videos policy to protect the privacy of the women in attendance.

Like multiple other entertainment spaces around the Emirate, RollDXB offers student packages for students that are visiting on field trips. While their prices per student differ based on the number of students attending, the experience for students remains the same. Students must be accompanied by adults and only students ages 4 and above qualify for the experience.

The intermediate roller skating class is priced at AED 450 per session and lasts for one hour. To give students the utmost attention and care, the classes are one-on-one, and the maximum number of students per session is one student.

A fun learning experience for children between the ages of 4-15 years, the RollDXB academy is open to all students to take their skills a step forward and have the most fun possible while doing so!

The students will be able to enjoy skating on the rink and will have access to specialised trainers who will assist and guide them through the process. The package also includes additional activities to ensure loads of fun for kids, such as dancing, skateboarding and arts and crafts.

The classes will ensure that all students are given personalised advice on how to improve according to their skill level, whether they are beginners or already know their way around the rink. There is no minimum skill level required for the camp.

At the end of each week, students will get to move to the beat and showcase their groovy new skills. The rink will hold an exhibition at the end of each week where skaters can invite their family and friends.

The classes are taught by a range of specialised national and international professional coaches experienced in the field. These trainers are fully equipped to guide students, beginners and professionals alike, on all aspects of skating, including jumps, spins, skate artistry, pair skating, skate dance and more.

Each of the group roller skates class packages are priced at AED 1470 per month with eight sessions that last for one and a half hour per session. To give students the utmost attention and care, the classes are limited to 10 students per class.

The beginner roller skates group class works on the fundamentals of the students and begins from the basics by teaching them walking in skates, balance and counterbalance, pushing, rolling, reflexes, stopping and turning.

The intermediate roller skates group class delves into improving previous skills and focuses on developing style and additional manoeuvres. They will also teach students a few dance moves.

The advanced roller skates group class delves into multiple specialisations of which the group can choose one of the following: Shred & Bowls, Artistic, Jam, Hockey, Street or Fitness.

While the venue provides its visitors with the option to rent out equipment, they also host a store where you can purchase some of the finest equipment that you can call your own. They often have sales on their items, such as roller skates and helmets, and you can get them delivered by placing the order online.
