MPD Makes Arrest in Southwest Shooting
(Washington, D.C.) – The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of the suspect in a 2024 shooting in Southwest.
On November 28, 2024, at approximately 8:50 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 3900 block of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue, Southwest. Upon arrival, officers located a man suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and EMS personnel responded and transported the man to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday, February 19, 2026, pursuant to a DC Superior arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Task Force located and arrested 33-year-old Dennis Wilkins of Southwest, D.C. Wilkins was charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).
