MPD Makes Arrest in Fatal Southeast Shooting
(Washington, D.C.) – The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Southeast.
On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Seventh District officers responded to the 3000 block of Martin Luther King Jr Avenue, Southeast, for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Derrick Howard, of Baltimore, MD.
As a result of the detective’s investigation, on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, 31-year-old Andre Townsend of Upper Marlboro, MD, was arrested. Townsend was charged with Second Degree Murder While Armed.

(Washington, D.C.) – The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect in fatal shooting that occurred in Southeast.
On Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at approximately 7:26 p.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to the 5500 block of B Street, Southeast, for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival officers discovered an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds who was unconscious and not breathing. The victim was transported to a local hospital where on Friday, November 22, 2024, he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim has been identified as 28-year-old Christopher Robinson of Southeast.
On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, members of the Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 24-year-old Jaheim Brown of Waldorf, MD, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant. On Friday, September 26, 2025, Brown went through the extradition process and was transported to MPD’s Homicide Branch, where he was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated).
