---------------- Forwarded Invite -------------------------

Dear Third District Community Champions,
As we gather this evening for our 3D CAC Public Safety Meeting, I want to reflect on a powerful truth that lies at the heart of community policing: accountability begins with real apologies and real change.
True accountability is not just about policies, data and procedures it starts with the courage to acknowledge harm to our community, offer genuine apologies, and commit to meaningful change and stopping chaos. When our institutions and leaders embrace this principle, they create the foundation for healing and re-stabilization that our communities desperately need. Real apologies open doors to dialogue, rebuild fractured trust, and remind us that we are all accountable to one another in the sacred work of public safety.
Tonight, we honor and thank our MPD Chief Pamela A. Smith for her dedicated service to our community. Chief Smith's leadership has been marked by her commitment to community engagement and her willingness to stand with us in difficult times. We are grateful for the bridges she has helped build between MPD and the residents of the Third District. Chief Smith, thank you for your service, your integrity, and your thoughtfulness, kindness and heart for our community. We wish you every beautiful blessing in your next chapter.
We also extend a warm welcome back to 3D, Interim MPD Chief Jeffery Carroll as he steps into this critical role. Chief Carroll, we look forward to working with you in partnership, continuing the important work of community policing built on transparency, accountability, and mutual respect. The Third District Citizens Advisory Council stands ready to support collaborative approaches that center our community's safety, dignity, and wellbeing.
Please join us THIS EVENING at 7:00 PM via Zoom for our 3D CAC Public Safety Meeting. This is your opportunity to engage directly with police leadership, voice your concerns, and participate in shaping the future of public safety in our 3rd District. Your presence matters. Your voice matters.
Together, through accountability and authentic partnership, we can re-stabilize and strengthen our community: One Conversation, One Apology, One Act of Reconciliation At A Time.
With gratitude and hope for our shared future,
Karen Gaal
Chairwoman and Public Safety Director
