MPD Arrests Man for Southeast Homicide
(Washington, D.C.) – The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a man in a fatal shooting in Southeast.
On Thursday, March 27, 2025, at approximately 3:24 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to the 3800 block of 1st Street, Southeast, for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced deceased.
The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Benjamin Mingo, of Northeast, DC.
On Thursday, October 23, 2025, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested 32-year-old Clarence Edward Jones, Jr., of Southeast, DC. Jones was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed (Premeditated).
