Hi, Ron, (and members of the Cap 1 ExCom)
This was a surprise and a bit unsettling.
Looks like Brian might be ahead of the curve here. Maybe not.
I don't have experience with this type of social media, but it strikes me that something like this should at least be discussed by the club's executive committee, and perhaps some expectations and guidelines set before initiating it. Raises issues of confidentiality and participation, etc, and how it fits together within an overall strategy of marketing and communication for the club.
Maybe you and the Executive
Committee have been chewing on this for awhile. If so, that wasn't evident in Brian's announcement.
As I am currently in the process of creating a new FreeToastHost website to exist in addition to our current fine website, I'm acting with your knowledge, consent and encouragement, and plan to preview the website to you to work out any kinks before rolling it out to the full membership.
As I conceived it, one of the reasons to move to the FTH website is to enhance communication within the group. That means basically substituting the new FTH website for the existing website for internal communication only. The existing website works great for external communication. Then along comes this, which seems to have much the same intent.
I'd appreciate some clarity
and background.
Jim

Subject: [Capital Toastmasters I] Capital Toastmasters 1 Google + page
I created a page on Google + for Capital Toastmasters 1 where we can share ideas and encourage each other in a more social way. We can also link TED presentations or other links or videos so that new members in the future can learn from our experiences and from past member contributions.
Since everyone who is on this group should already have a Google account, just add Google + to your account and do a search for Capital Toastmasters 1, follow it and post at will! You can also try following this link which may or may not take you to the page: https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/100279743464333452901/#
I'm relatively new to Google+ but if you have any questions following this page, let me know and I'll try to help.
