Yes, hopefully this will be the start of something great.

The OFCS is comprised of two parts: software/hardware and marketing/eduction. Each area breaks down into multiple projects:

Software/Hardware
-client-side user interface (includes inventory management)
-distributed account database
-credit syndicate management interface
-public/automated auditing tools

Marketing/Education
-theory / strategy (publishing articles in magazines, websites, etc)
-outreach (would include stuff like a speaking tour)
-documentation and implementation materials
-testing and research (including articles for peer-reviewed journals)
-marketing / information management (website, viral campaigns, etc.)

Discussions on this list can go anywhere, just start a new thread. I recommend getting full emails from this list (not a digest) and filtering all mail from of...@googlegroups.com to it's own folder. That way, you don't have to log in to the google group, and just hit reply on emails in your own preferred email environment.

Please review the FAQ and the other document, and feel free to launch any sort of discussion.

And a big welcome to two new people who've joined this group today.

This mailing list is to discuss the concept and organization of OFCS;
to identify the tasks, models, concepts, and strategies needed for
implementation. The dialogue is driven by our ideas and questions for
each other. Even though I started this project, most of the fleshing-
out has come from people asking me very probing questions about the
system.

We also like to talk about other projects that we are or have been
involved with that are similar or may inform this project. Feel free
to bring up anything, really.

Oh, and don't forget to read the FAQ in the "Files" section, and think of more questions to ask. Those of you already familiar with OFCS, I have questions for you:

How is land-property addressed by OFCS?

How can an OFCS system be implemented alongside a contemporary currency (i.e. USD)?

Are there certain geo-political conditions that are more or less conducive to implementing an OFCS system?
